Let's be honest, we've all had that moment where we've felt the need to google "how to make chocolate covered strawberries" even though it feels like a silly recipe to look up. I'm here to comfort you by sharing my easy strategies to employ when you need a sweet snack so you can have a reference. Sometimes you want dessert that feels more homemade than just reaching for an item in the cupboard and that's where chocolate covered strawberries save the day.

Ingredients

  • One carton of fresh strawberries with their tops on

  • Dark chocolate

  • Unsalted butter

Preparation

  1. Wash your strawberries and let them dry (I know you know this but we all need a reminder from time-to-time)

  2. In a small bowl combine your dark chocolate (I like to use chocolate chips) and a bit of unsalted butter. Butter is not required by any means for this recipe but it does help the chocolate keeps its shine and allows the chocolate to not burn so quickly.

  3. Put in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take out and mix, and re-microwave if not completely melted. It's better to do this a couple times for shorter periods than to overdo it and burn your chocolate

  4. Set some parchment paper on a baking sheet. I like to use parchment paper because when the chocolate cools it will easily come off rather than directly from a ceramic surface (like a plate)

  5. Dunk your strawberries in the chocolate mixture. It's okay if you need to use a spoon to coat the entire base - when I made them the process was not pretty or seamless.

  6. Set on baking tray and repeat until the strawberries are all covered. Place the tray in the refrigerator and let chill for at least 1 hour before serving


If you want to make these more fancy you can add sprinkles. drizzle white chocolate, do a second dip in peanut butter - it's up to you and your taste preferences! I look forward to seeing what you come up with
